Original Production cel from the Kite OVA by Yasuomi Umetsu (Also known as A Kite). If you're unfamiliar with animation cels, they are hand painted frames of animation that were used to make an animated series of film. Each production cel or sketch represents part of the movement process and are hand painted or hand drawn by animators so no two are exactly alike. They're a lot like movie props.
This is a young Sawa falling due to knock back as she's learning her new profession. This is a 2 layer cel, one layer is Sawa herself, the other is the smoke/steam behind her. Cels are stuck together and there's some line fading and a bit of paint loss on the shadow under Sawa. This comes with matching douga sketches for both Sawa and the smoke/stem behind her. Sketch of Sawa has some minor paint transfer and wear, sketch of the smoke plume is pretty clean. With all production artwork please expect some wear and tear from the filming process. Kite cels are becoming increasingly hard to find and this is a great action shot from an important scene in this controversial classic.
