Original Production cel from the Kite OVA by Yasuomi Umetsu (Also known as A Kite). If you're unfamiliar with animation cels, they are hand painted frames of animation that were used to make an animated series of film. Each production cel or sketch represents part of the movement process and are hand painted or hand drawn by animators so no two are exactly alike. They're a lot like movie props.
This is Oburi about to fulfill a contract with the smoke from an explosion used as a distraction in the air behind him. This is a triple layered cel with matching douga of Oburi, flying debris and the smoke. Cel layers are stuck and stapled together. Layers have some abrasions and other inclusions between the layers on the unpainted acetate. Cel has some minor line fading but is generally in nice shape. Douga of Oburi and smoke have damaged spots from where they were removed from the cel layers. Douga of the debris pieces is clean. All three sketches are stapled together.
With all production artwork please expect some wear and tear from the filming process. Kite cels are becoming increasingly hard to find and this is a great dynamic shot of Oburi, that was originally part of our personal collection, this is a great unique piece from this controversial classic.
