Rare Jem (Jem and The Holograms) Layout Sketch. This is a hand drawn sketch which would have been used in the production of this cartoon. Layout sketches are typically a rough sketch used as a guide to make other cleaner sketches which are eventually copied and made into painted cels. This sketch features Jerrica in her cleaning outfit distressed about something. Given the outfit and the way the hair is drawn this sketch is very likely was used in the production of first episode of Jem, The Beginning. Additionally this sketch is unique because it's drawn on US sized animation paper and most of the animation in Jem was done in Japan. This sketch was done as either an initial layout to send to the Japanese animators for a certain scene or as part of one of the many corrections and extensions that were made to the first 5 episodes of Jem after they first aired. Sketch is in great shape just some minor wrinkling and discoloration from age. First image is cropped for detail, second image shows entire sketch and has been color corrected, 3rd sketch is a completely unedited scan to show the minor wrinkles. Any animation art from Jem is rare, so this is a great piece for any fan of this classic 80s cartoon.
