  • Do I have to make an account to checkout?

    We strongly reccomend making an account as that way you can earn points for money off on future purchases, keep track off all your past orders, save your shopping cart and save multiple address in you personal address book. Other than you needing to set a password you use the exact same information to set up an account as you do if you're purchasing an item so it's as easy as checking out as a guest.

    If you really don't want to set up an account It's possible use the Paypal checkout button on the cart sceen to checkout as a guest but this method doesn't allow you to track your orders, or to earn or use points or giftcards. If you wish to pay via credit card or via you must set up an account.
    There is also an option for us to put through an order for you if you need to pay via snail mail contact us for details.

    What payment methods and currency do you accept?

    We accept credit cards directly on our site (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX, Diner's Club, JCB) and bank transfers via Paypal. We take money orders via request, just contact us. All our prices are in US Dollars and that's our preferred currency. We can sometimes accommodate other currencies via special request.

    How does the loyalty points program work?

    Our loyalty points program works on a simple Shop→ Earn→ Save Model. Shop normally, earn points on every item your buy and use the points to save on future orders. For more information about our points program check out our Loyalty Points page.

    Is avaneshop.com safe?

    We take trust and safety seriously. Avane is an officially licensed business in the state of Minnesota. Our site is certified to be malware and virus free by Google: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing
    Our site is also certified secure by Mcafee: https://www.mcafeesecure.com/verify?host=avaneshop.com
    All customer information and credit card information is entered on our secure server. Credit Card information, even if you opt to save it for future purchases, is never stored on our servers.

    Your shipping Policy says you have a 5 business day handling time, but it's been 5 days and my item isn't here yet. What happened?

    Except for during the Christmas shipping season (November 30th to December 23rd)Which has special rules. We have a 5 business day handling time, not a 5 business day delivery time. If you order on a Friday your order will be shipped by the following Friday because our handling time doesn't include weekends.
    When your actual item arrives will depend on the shipping speed you selected and where you're located. Please keep in mind that paying for Priority Express Mail or Priority Mail doesn't change our handling time just the speed at which it travels after we've sent it.
    A good rule of thumb is that it will be roughly 2 weeks for your item to arrive from the time of your order. We can occasionally expedite the handling time, so if you need an item shipped sooner than our predicted time let us know before your order and we'll let you know if we can get it out early. International orders usually take a bit longer to get out and a lot longer to arrive.

    If you don't see your country when you go to checkout please contact us, we will be happy to ship to wherever you are!

    Do you Purchase collections or individual items from people?

    Yes we do. If you're interested in selling your collection to us please contact us with pictures and your asking prices. Please bear in mind that we can not purchase items for what we sell them for. We have to pay taxes and fees on every item sold in our shop as well as the other costs associated with selling. In general we will not purchase an item for resale for more than 50% of what we sell it for in the shop. We will sometimes purchase items for our personal collection at a higher rate but it's uncommon.

    I sent you a message but never got a response, are you ignoring me?

    Generally if you have not heard a response within 48 hours, you should resend your message. It's likely that the message either got trapped in a spam filter or otherwise lost somewhere between you and us. We do our best to answer all inquires in a timely manner. Weekends and Holidays might be a little longer though.

    I'm looking for this really awesome figure/game/toy can you find it for me?

    We can occasionally accommodate special requests, but we can't guarantee we can find anything. Almost everything we sell was made over a decade ago so we don't have suppliers we can order from on the fly. We do keep records of requests for about 3 months and try to let you know if we find what you've been looking for.

    I like to look at things in person do you have a physical location I can visit?

    Currently we do not. We have a long term plan to open a brick and mortar shop, in the Duluth, MN area where we're located but it's still a long ways off. If you are in our area and really want to see something in person we'd be happy to meet you with a a neutral location. Just let us know.

    I saw something you had on your tumblr/facebook/pinterest but I don't see it in your store do you still have it?

    Maybe. We usually only have one of the items we sell at any given time, but occasionally we have multiples or a buyer doesn't complete their order. Just contact us and we'll check it out for you.

    Do you offer coupon codes or discounts?

    Yes. Sign up for our Geekery Gazette. We send out an email once a month (or less) with updates on what's been happening at the shop, a few featured items and sometimes a coupon code. We also occasionally post them via Facebook or elsewhere on the web.

    I have a coupon code, how do I use it?

    Coupons are entered during step 2 of the checkout process. Coupons are part of the payment information section, you enter your code in the first box after the order summary. Check out this photo if you're still confused.

    I just saw something on ebay/amazon/etsy for cheaper than you have it for in your shop. Will you change the price?

    No. If you see a great deal elsewhere we suggest you buy it while you've got the chance or wait until you see one at a price you're comfortable paying. We do lower prices and or put things on clearance as the market dictates so you can always wait and see. Otherwise, we're willing to haggle a bit but we generally don't price match.

    I'm really in love with an item but I can't afford it right now. Will you take payments or hold it for me?

    We do holds and payments plans on a case by case basis. It's normally a service limited to repeat customers, but you can always ask.

    Are your prices firm or do you haggle?

    For repeat customers or large orders we're generally willing to haggle a little bit. It really is on an item by item case by case basis though. We pay taxes and fees on every sale we make so we always have to be mindful that we aren't paying you to take an item away.

    I bought something awhile ago and the shipping was much cheaper, have you increased your rates?

    The United States Postal Service has been increasing shipping rates every year. Packages of all types cost more to ship now than they did previously. This is especially true for international customers where the prices for light packages have increased exponentially. Please note that we have no control over these price increases as our shipping costs are determined by the USPS rates and not set by us directly. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are always happy to double check shipping costs for you though, if you think the shipping calculator is coming out high, just email us and we'll double check the rates for you.

    The girl in your banner/on your business card/on your magnets is really cute what anime or manga is she from?

    She's actually an original character done by Japanese doujin artist Colorful. Weown theoriginal shikishi(drawing) of her and several more but the same artist from when the artist was selling her original works via Yahoo Japan auctions (she sadly doesn't anymore). The Artist didn't name her and just labeled her Miko, so that's what we generally call her as well.

    I saw a really great item in your collection, will you sell it to me?

    Probably not. We've been carefully amassing our collection for many years and plan to continue curating it mostly intact for years to come. We do sometimes decide to sell off pieces of our personal collections for a variety of reasons, but unless it's a duplicate it's a rare occurrence. You can always feel free to ask though the worst we can say is no.
